James Vincent Eade, a world-renowned chess master, chess tournament organizer and author, draws upon over 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and chess instruction. In 2019, he founded The Eade Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides underprivileged communities with resources to cultivate skills in chess players of all ages worldwide. As the organization’s chief executive officer, he has sponsored annual scholarships for student chess players, donated hundreds of chess sets to individuals, and expanded The Eade Foundation across the globe, including in Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Colombia, Nicaragua and Uganda, where he is in the process of founding a chess academy. Outside his primary ventures, Mr. Eade hosts a podcast titled “Calm Down with James Eade” and authored “Freedom: Your Path to Recovery” in 2023, an autobiographical self-help book that serves as a means of inspiration for others with addiction who are pursuing recovery. Previously, he founded Hypermodern Press, through which he has published chess books from other authors and his own award-winning titles, including “Chess for Dummies” in 1996 and “The Chess Player’s Bible” in 2004. To attest to his success, Mr. Eade received the Outstanding Career Achievement Award from the United States Chess Federation in 2018, among other accolades.
