Mike R. Galli, Esq., is highly regarded in the legal industry as a retired deputy district attorney with the Santa Clara County, California, Office of the District Attorney. Possessing a career of nearly 40 years, he continues to teach and advise law enforcement professionals on the U.S. Constitution’s Fourth Amendment. Previously, he served the Santa Clara County DA’s Office in several roles, including trial lawyer, assistant unit leader of the Felony Narcotics Unit, Special Assistant United States Attorney, supervisor of the Welfare Fraud Unit, and significant roles within numerous units dating to 1984. He was the first supervisor of the newly created felony drug asset forfeiture unit and has drafted over 2,200 search warrants. He also instructed at the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation for 16 years, drawing upon his expertise in Fourth Amendment law, rendering him a sought-after lecturer. Writing the Search Warrant Law and Practice Manual for CDAA since 2009, now in its fifth edition, he recently contributed a chapter to the CDAA Hate Crimes Monograph in 2025. He earned the 2016 CNOA Region 1 Prosecutor of the Year award and the 2022 Excellence in Training Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
