Dr. Allan P. Gold, a retired psychologist with the Reed Union School District, leveraged nearly five decades of vocational excellence prior to his retirement in 2023. Emphasizing that working in a smaller school district allowed him to truly connect with children, their families and faculty members, Dr. Gold hosted therapeutic sessions to assist various groups, including children of divorce, children with special needs siblings, and children with sick or terminally ill parents. Notably, he launched the Gender Sexuality Alliance during his longstanding tenure at the school district, providing students with a safe space to discuss their identity. He also chaired the board of Being Adept, a nonprofit that provided educational materials to prevent substance abuse in students. To wit, Dr. Gold’s personable and direct approach to counseling, warm sense of humor and natural empathy made an everlasting impression on students, garnering him two Outstanding School Psychologist Awards from the California Association of School Psychologists in 1991 and 2017. To support his career, Dr. Gold received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational psychology from the University of California Berkeley. A nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP), he also accepted the Rotary Club Award in 2014.
