Andre Frances Jarreau, the founder and president of the DeafBlind Community of Mississippi, thrives as a steadfast advocate for the DeafBlind community in the nonprofit industry. Established in 2015, the DeafBlind Community of Mississippi is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that aims to bring awareness to communities with auditory and visual disabilities, alleviating stress caused by seclusion or loneliness. A deaf and blind individual himself, Mr. Jarreau survived a motorcycle accident that left him unable to see and hear, and his months of rehabilitation led him to discover the resources and opportunities necessary for others like him to succeed. Earlier in his career, he was an electrical engineer who served as a manager in the information technology industry, helping to build a nationwide telecommunications network. He also served as a bid team member with the U.S. Department of Defense on a $39 million contract. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Honored by the Helen Keller National Center for DeafBlind Youths and Adults for his leadership and advocacy, Mr. Jarreau seeks to secure transportation services and hire a communication navigator for his nonprofit organization to expand the scope of their reach.
