Anthony S. Marinello is a pilot and first responder who has used his career to promote public safety through aviation. Since 2021, he has been the president of Tropic Air Rescue and Tropic Air Charters, Inc., a members-only concierge air rescue service with six pilots and a fleet of ambulance helicopters serving the Bahamas. He began his career as an EMT before joining the New Jersey State Police in 1979, beginning a 27-year career with the department that saw him rise to become a state trooper, a captain, and a helicopter pilot. He became the first chief pilot of the Newark Police Department, implementing policies that helped reduce local crime rates by up to 20% in just one year.
After retiring from law enforcement in 2007, he served as CEO of the SAS Group, LLC, taught simulations for CAE Inc., and shared his expertise as director of safety and security for HeliFlite. In recognition of his commitment to service and innovation, he has been featured in Columbia Magazine and “Meet the Disruptors” and is the winner of the 2025 South Florida CEO Apogee Award and a 2024 Sikorsky Aircraft rescue award, among others.
