Austin T. Fragomen, Jr. is a celebrated attorney and professor whose practice has focused on immigration law for more than 50 years. He developed an interest in international law while earning a Juris Doctor at Case Western Reserve University and attributes much of his success to his ability to predict the rise in highly skilled professionals immigrating to the United States beginning in the 1970s. He began his career as assistant counsel to the United States House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary before establishing Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy LLP in 1970. The firm expanded internationally in 1983 and has remained a Global 100 firm.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Fragomen was an adjunct professor of law at New York University from 1988 until 2010 and has contributed to articles, professional guidebooks, and textbooks. Since 2022, he has been chairman emeritus of his firm and continues to hold leadership roles with the Center for Migration Studies and the Global Forum on Migration and Development.
