As a law librarian, David Badertscher has had a hand in making a difference with his assistance in researching and providing resources for university course development and court cases. Some of his most notable achievements have been redesigning the method used to handle transcripts and launching a law blog in the early 2000s. Inspired by his Uncle Jacob, who was the first in the family to graduate from college, Mr. Badertscher earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from Indiana State University, and an MLS in library and information science from Dominican University. After several years working as a teacher and school librarian, he became involved with the University of Chicago Law School as an assistant reference librarian. After, he provided his skills and expertise at Schiff Hardin Waite Dorschel & Britton, Georgetown University Law Center, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and the New York Supreme Court before retiring in 2012. At the University of Chicago, he worked closely with members and on representative committees. Upon his retirement, he was considered the go-to person with research in terms of New York law and criminal law, and knew he was greatly missed by his coworkers.
The threads of Mr. Badertscher’s career can be followed in his Milestones feature.
Mr. Badertscher has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the law librarianship profession.
As an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Mr. Badertscher is highlighted on the accompanying website.
