Mr. Markuson is the founder and chief executive officer of Foss and Swanson Veterans Community Service Center, a nonprofit gathering space and access point for veterans to receive support, resources, and assistance. A heavily decorated 20-year veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Markuson opened the center in 2019 as a way to reconnect with his military roots and be an advocate for the needs of other veterans in the community. Prior to opening Foss and Swanson Veterans Community Service Center, Mr. Markuson worked for the government of Dakota County, Minnesota, and was active as a District Commander and Post Service Officer for the Lyle Russell VFW Post 1210 and American Legion Post 47. He holds an associate of science in business management from Inver Hills Community College. Mr. Markuson remains involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, the DAV and the Wounded Warrior Project, and is the editor of the Dakota County Veteran Services news bulletin.
