Dr. Donald Paul has stood out in his field for many reasons, such as his work with developing polymer blends and having numerous graduate students complete their dissertations and thesis projects to go into teaching or work within the field. His most recent positions have been serving as the Ernest Cockrell Senior Chair of Engineering and Director of the Center for Polymer Research at the University of Texas in Austin. Having grown up the child of sharecroppers, Dr. Paul knew how important a good education was to his success. He earned a Master of Science and PhD from the University of Wisconsin in 1963 and 1965, respectively and a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State College in 1961. In recognition of his lifelong work and passion for science and engineering, Dr. Paul has received numerous accolades such as the Founders Award and the Alan S. Michaels Award from the North America Membrane Society, the Alan S. Michaels Award, North America Membrane Society and a Distinguished Service Citation from the University of Wisconsin. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue educating and researching.
