Dr. George Michael Cuesta is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than four decades of expertise in mental and behavioral health services. His professional journey began as a West Point Cadet, and he was commissioned into the military police as a lieutenant, serving for seven years before recognizing that his calling lay elsewhere. He earned a Master of Education in counseling from Boston University in 1985 and spent three years as a counseling psychologist for the United States Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) before pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology and completing several clinical internships.
Dr. Cuesta went on to serve in the United States Army Reserve Medical Service Corps in Boston and spent eleven years as director of rehabilitation psychology at Burke Rehabilitation. He continued his work with the VA as a supervisory psychologist and clinical neuropsychologist over the next decade, including international placements in England. Dr. Cuesta has authored numerous papers and articles, mentored emerging professionals, and has centered service and education in his career. Inspired by his Buddhist faith, he has provided pro bono services to communities in Bhutan and volunteers with the Shantideva Center of Brooklyn.
