Hsien-Lung “Jim” Yang is a semiconductor industry veteran celebrating nearly 25 years of success in process and application engineering. Since 2023, he has held engineering leadership roles with Applied Materials, spending two years as director of process engineering before becoming head of technology development in 2025. Mr. Yang holds a Master of Science in electrical engineering and computer science from Cornell University and has presented at international conferences in his field. He has co-authored numerous papers in materials engineering and holds patents in devices related to physical vapor deposition.

Among his achievements include the development of numerous chip manufacturing processes later used by Apple, and PVD, CVD, and plasma etching hardware and processes. Throughout his career, Mr. Yang has worked internationally with sector leaders including Wavetek Microelectronics Corporation and ASM, and he looks forward to continuing to build his career at Applied Materials with the goal of rising to a vice president position within five years.
