Dr. Cotelingam is a board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist and the Lousiana State University W.R. Mathews Professor of Pathology currently serving as director of the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center Next Generation Sequencing and Tissue Repository and medical director of the LabCorp Highland Clinic. He manages a laboratory staff of nearly 150, covering specialties including hematology, surgical pathology, and the blood bank. He holds a pre-medical science degree from Ewing Christian College and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana, India. Throughout his career, he has been a member of faculty at institutions including the University of South Florida, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and Howard University, and has lectured or consulted for the American Cancer Society and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. A United States Navy veteran, Dr. Cotelingam served from 1977 until 1997 and is decorated for his service during Operation Desert Storm and his work with the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. He has written and lectured extensively on topics in pathology, and led the pathology team responsible for diagnosing president Ronald Reagan’s colon cancer, a high-profile case that he considers a career highlight.
