James M. Parker, MD, FACC, FSCAI is a board-certified interventional cardiologist and arrhythmia specialist at North Oaks Medical Center, where he has seen patients since 2010. He was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after witnessing a serious accident and decided to specialize in cardiology after seeing a friend’s father suffer a heart attack and feeling helpless to intervene. He completed a master of science in neuroelectrophysiology at Louisiana State University before earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2004. He remained at the LSU Health Sciences Center for a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology until beginning his practice in 2010. Dr. Parker was a member of the North Oaks Health System medical executive board from 2017 until 2020, when he was named chief of staff, and in 2019 he was honored as the center’s physician of the year. He remains passionate about cardiology and has pursued additional certifications in CT cardiology and education in treating and preventing coronary artery disease and heart failure. Dr. Parker cites his perseverance and commitment to his patients for his success and looks forward to continuing to specialize in cardiology and remain on the leading edge of his field.
