Mr. Aronson retired in 2019 after more than 45 years as a clinical pharmacist, serving patients and staff in hospital settings. Inspired by a childhood love for chemistry and a desire to help others, he attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1972. He began his career at Boston City Hospital in 1974 and remained on staff following its merger with Boston University Medical Center Hospital in 1996 to become Boston Medical Center, where he remained until 2002. In 2004, he became a staff clinical hospital pharmacist for the VA Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island, becoming a clinical pharmacy specialist in 2011. At the VA Medical Center, Mr. Aronson specialized in inpatient dispensing and counseling veterans; training pharmacy students, pharmacy residents and pharmacy technicians; working with hospital pharmacy leadership to schedule pharmacists appropriately for evening and weekend shifts; and coordinating care with prescribers and outpatient pharmacies. He was recognized with an I-CARE Leadership Award pin from the United States Department for Veterans Affairs. Mr. Aronson was motivated by a desire to make sure that veterans received the highest level of care with the fewest barriers to access. He attributes his success to his compassion, listening skills, commitment to care and attention to detail.
