Michael J. Walzer

Teacher and Coach | Akron Public Schools

Supported by a Bachelor of Science from Kent State University, Michael J. Walzer provided his skills and expertise to give his students all the tools they needed to be successful in their endeavors. From 1976 until his retirement in 2006, he taught mathematics, science, and history for grades 5-9 at Akron Public Schools. Furthermore, he served as the soccer and track coach. One of the key features of his abilities as a teacher has been teaching his students to solve math problems in different ways that are not in the textbook. In addition to his work as a teacher, Mr. Walzer has been published in the Akron Beacon Journal, and has published two poems through Eber and Wein Publishers in 2014 and 20176, respectively. He  attributes his success to his upbringings of two good parents and raised Roman Catholic. He was introduced to the teaching profession while he worked as a tutor in high school. Looking toward the future, Mr. Walzer endeavors to spend more time with family.
