Ms. Haroon is a visual artist best known for her work in oil on canvas, including abstract works and landscapes of her city, travels, and spiritual subjects. She realized her passion for art at a young age after receiving painting lessons as a Catholic school student, and continued to paint with the encouragement of her father. Ms. Haroon holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. Joseph’s College in Karachi, Pakistan, and relocated to the United States in 1980. She began working as a design consultant for the Shangri-La Hotel in Santa Monica, where she would remain until 1994, and began showing her work extensively. Ms. Haroon’s work has been displayed internationally as a part of the Art in Embassies program, and she has served as an ambassador with the program, including an extensive 2008 media and outreach campaign in Algiers and several international masterclasses. Ms. Haroon has remained a cultural ambassador and speaker throughout her career, and has held leadership roles with the Islamic Center of Southern California, the Santa Monica Bay Interfaith Council, and the Pakistan Arts Council of Pacific Asia Museum, among many others. She looks forward to continuing to paint, teach, and connect with others in the coming years.
