Ralph Eugene Spelbring

Chemist (Retired) | Whitehall Laboratories

Ralph Spelbring amassed more than four decades of experience in chemistry and education prior to retiring from the field in 2007. Serving with Whitehall Laboratories in Elkhart, Indiana, as a chemist between 1972 and 1991, he maintained responsibility for analyzing raw materials and conducting quality control processes on finished products. Following his tenure with Whitehall Laboratories, he was a chemist at Apex Pharmaceutical from 1993 to 1995 and a substitute teacher in the states of Indiana and Michigan until 2007. Before delving into the sciences, he was a teacher at LaSalle High School and Corydon High School. Ever-committed to his vocational pursuits, Mr. Spelbring has served as a commercial delivery driver since 2011, transporting commercial vehicles to the east of the Mississippi River and Ontario, Canada. Adjacent to his professional path, Mr. Spelbring was recognized as a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in several districts in Indiana between 1986 and 2020 and as a Democratic candidate for the Elkhart County Council in 2012 and again in 2018. He has also lent his expertise to authorship, contributing to Barron’s, the Chicago Tribune and numerous newspapers throughout Indiana. Mr. Spelbring holds a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from DePauw University.
