Ramzan Zakir is the director of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and an interventional cardiologist with the Heart & Vascular Institute of Central New Jersey, where he has practiced since 2014. Specializing in complex coronary interventions, including heart attacks, cases involving amputation, and arterial blockages, he is passionate about working with patients who have challenging care needs or poor initial prognoses. Fascinated by science as a child, he earned his Doctor of Medicine at Cross University and completed his internship and residency at the New Jersey Medical School, where an experience with a heart attack patient led him to develop an interest in cardiology. Dr. Zakir is board-certified in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and echocardiography, and serves at the director of the transradio program at Robert Wood Johnson University hospital in addition to maintaining a private clinical practice. He is extensively published and has participated in conferences and professional symposia around the world. He has been recognized for his excellence with numerous teaching awards and the American Pakistani Physicians Society of America Award for Excellence. He is active in community medical projects including the Police Defense Foundation and Health Forces for Police, and supports global educational projects.
