Sarah Jane Chambers is the director of music at the Ursuline Academy of Dallas, where she has been a beloved member of faculty for more than five decades. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in music education from the University of North Texas and began teaching at Ursuline Academy of Dallas in 1973. In 1984, she was promoted to her current role, where she has continued her career focus on empowering students to develop a lifelong music practice. As a part of fostering a commitment to excellence, Ms. Chambers has provided her students with the opportunity to perform internationally, including a vocal performance at the Vatican. She is a founding member of the Texas Private School Music Educators Association and emphasizes the value of maintaining strong student-teacher rapport even after graduation, crediting much of her success to the support of her early academic and creative mentors. Looking toward her retirement, Ms. Chambers looks forward to remaining active as a performer, guest conductor, and guide for others.
