Sharon L. Telleen, PhD

Research Associate Professor Emerita | University of Illinois at Chicago

An integral figure in psychology and public health education, Dr. Sharon L. Telleen has held the title of research associate professor emerita in the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago since 2011. First joining the academic institution in 1984, she served as a research associate professor in the Institute for Health Research and Policy, a faculty affiliate in the Psychology Division of Community and Prevention Research, and the interim associate director of research in the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy, among other positions. During her longstanding tenure, she was among the original faculty in the maternal and child health program at the university and was instrumental in the development of the Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes Reporting System, a state public health surveillance. Dr. Telleen is a frequent presenter, having conducted interdisciplinary research through the American Public Health Association and formerly served as a lecturer of strategies for mainstreaming the developmentally disabled at DePaul University. She has authored or co-authored more than 70 publications in her field. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in education from Augustana College and a Master of Education and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Maryland at College Park.
