Well-versed in social services and health care, Father Stephen J. Brandow has served as a clinical chaplain for the Alexandria VA Healthcare System in Alexandria, Louisiana, since 2000. Ordained to ministry by the Catholic Church in 1996, he previously lent his expertise as an associate pastor to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Tioga, Louisiana, and St. Rita Parish in Alexandria. Before delving into ministerial services, he excelled as a social worker at Woodview Regional Hospital in Pineville, Louisiana, and spent the following five years as a medical clerk for the Alexandria VA Healthcare System. Congruent to his vocational efforts, he has served on the community advisory board with the Louisiana Purchase Council of the Boy Scouts of America since 2003 and has been a member of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting since 1997, which bestowed upon him its Bronze Pelican Award. He also earned the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award from the Boy Scouts of America. Possessing a Bachelor of Arts in social work from Northwestern University and a Master of Divinity from the Notre Dame Seminary Graduate School of Theology, Father Brandow is currently pursuing a certificate in Catholic ethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center.
