Dr. Federman is a professor emeritus at the University of Toledo, where he spent 30 years as an active member of faculty in the department of physics and astronomy. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and earned his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy at New York Univeristy. He began his career as a senior research technician at Weill Cornell Medicine, and completed postdoctoral fellowships at New York University and the University of Texas before joining the staff of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 1983. In 1988, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Toledo, rising to associate in 1993 and professor in 1998, and continued to teach until being granted emeritus status in 2018. Dr. Federman is extensively published and has served as a technical editor for The Astrophysical Journal, the Journal of the Optical Sociaty of America B. Heis the former chair of the Amerian Astronomical Society Laboratory Astrophysics Division and past president of the International Astronomical Union Atomic and Molecular Data Commission, among other leadership roles held. He looks forward to continuing his research and enjoying travel in the coming years.
