Dr. Gitelson is a philanthropist, consultant, and the CEO and president of MTIIC Corporation and International Consultants, Inc. She credits her career to her internationally-focused mindset and natural curiosity, and began her work in academia, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College and both her Master of International Affairs and Doctor of Philosophy at Columbia University. She entered the business world in the 1980s, becoming president of SJ International Corp. from 1981 until 1995 and Magic Touch Icewares International Corporation from 1991 until 2009, and working with Bel-Art as a consultant in the 2010s. Dr. Gitelson has been a passionate philanthropist throughout her career and has held a number of leadership roles in arts and culture organizations, the American Friends of the Hebrew University, the Harry S. Truman Research Institute, and the Dr. Susan Aurelia Gitelson Foundation. She is the namesake of an award presented by Columbia University and the author of several papers on international relations and philanthropy, including “Giving is Not Just For the Very Rich.” Dr. Gitelson looks forward to continuing her work on culture, giving, and connectivity, and emphasizes the necessity of communication and connection on a global scale.
