Susan Matorin is a distinguished senior lecturer on social work in psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine, where she has been affiliated since 1981. Over her five-decade career, Ms. Matorin has been recognized for her work in education and reducing the social stigma associated with mental illness while maintaining a clinical practice serving individuals, couples, and families. She is the former chief of social work at the New York Psychiatric Institute’s Washington Heights Community Service, former chief of ambulatory social work in psychiatry at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, and served as an adjunct professor at the Columbia School of Social Work, among other leadership roles.
Ms. Matorin sits on the nominating committee for the Columbia University board of trustees and the executive committee of the Metropolitan chapter fo the Society for Social Work Leaders in Health Care in addition to service as chair of the Columbia School of Social Work Lucille Austin lectureship committee. As a respected luminary in her field, she has published extensively and is the recipient of honors including the 2021 Ellen Perlman Simon Mentor Award.
