Highly regarded in his field for his passion, Victor Renteria is a mathematics teacher for Bowie High School with the El Paso Independent School District. He began his teaching career in 1990 and notes his own development in teaching primarily ESL students has grown throughout the years. Recently, his classrooms were outfitted with iPads, which allows him to teach in his preferred method, being visual, instantly editing and connecting through the airspace and engaging with students at their level. One of the biggest takeaways he has learned in his career is to encourage his students to participate rather than lecture. In his own academic pursuits, Mr. Renteria earned an MBA from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1979. He is a Certified Educator, Near Pod User through Microsoft in Education; a Certified Teacher in the State of Texas; and has over 600 CPE hours, Continuing Professional Development Sessions with El Paso Independent School District. Since 2004, he has been named as a National Honor Roll Outstanding Teacher and has further received recognition from Tau Kappa Epsilon. Mr. Renteria is a financial contributor to the Special Olympics, and has been a partner of the Olympics since 1996.
